Set of eight Theodore Haviland Limoges, France Bleu de Four rimmed soup bowls marketed by Philadelphia retailer J. E. Caldwell & Co. Bowls are wonderfully decorated in the Rococo style with a lovely gold center medallion/snowflake, surrounded by a gold flowering vine, with a band of gold leaves along the rim. The border features lots of gold scrolls and leaves, with a cobalt blue scalloped edge, lavishly decorated with brushed gold.
Only the wealthiest families owned entire sets of Bleu de Four, as even today these are among the rarest porcelains. Don’t miss the opportunity to acquire this magnificent set!
Bowls bear Mark K, Porcelaine Mousseline, circa 1894, and measure 8 inches across and 1 3/8 inches high. Condition is very good to excellent, slight wear to the gold.
