The Cherub brooch dates from circa 1895 to 1915. The pin features an exquisitely crafted cherub with flowing hair in an open-work heart design. It is accentuated with 3 fiery genuine opals and a sapphire set at the top.
The Art Nouveau jewelers challenged the jewelry conventions of the Victorian era. In this charming piece you can see the characteristics of this time period by the dream-like blending of romance and fantasy combined with masterful craftsmanship that the Art Nouveau era was known for.
The delicate artistry in the setting is just beautiful, it has the old "C" style clasp and has a marking "0K" on the clasp (do not know this particular marking). From the research we have done and other Art Nouveau pieces we have sold, we believe that the pin is made of 14K Gold, it is not marked, The brooch measures 3/4" and is in excellent condition.
What a timeless and classic pin that will be passed down for many generations to come, do not pass up this Art Nouveau gem it; is a must for any Antique Jewelry collection. Will make a great gift to yourself or for the woman in your life!!
