Art Nouveau Poppies Hand Mirror Superb Porcelain Painting

Spectacular Art Nouveau porcelain hand mirror, hand painted (not a transfer) with luscious orange poppies against a lavender and green backround. Domed porcelain plaque, exquisitely painted with vivid blooming poppy flowers, fat ripe poppy buds, green leaves and trailing stems. The backround is a rich lavender and grass green, flowing perfectly into a smokey backround at the base of the porcelain plaque. Exquisite brass frame and Art Nouveau handle, lavishly repoussed with lily pads, with trailing stems and leaves on both sides. The frame and handle have been polished to a bright, rich finish. The mirror is heavily beveled and in perfect condition, with no silvering or spots. The piece is quite heavy for it's size, the porcelain plaque measuring 5 1/4" in diameter. The brass handle is rivetted to the brass mirror frame. Overall, the mirror measures 9 3/4" in length. The hand mirror is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines, it is pristine. The quality of the painting could easily be Limoges, it is unsigned and unmarked, but very reminiscent of marked Limoges paintings we have had, and likely French in origin. Completely handpainted, not a transfer. A superb, high quality, one of a kind piece for the collector, it would look sensational on your Victorian vanity or dresser. Circa 1900.
