Victorian Sterling Silver Art Nouveau Compote Perforated Openwork Rim

Gorgeous sterling silver Art Nouveau sweetmeat or candy compote. Elaborately wrought with perforated, or cutout openwork leafy design around the inner edge. Heavily repoussed swirling scrolls rim the outer edge, giving the rim a beautiful scalloped effect. These same repousse scrolls rim the edge of the foot of the compote. It stands 3 1/2" tall on it's pedestal foot, the diameter of the bowl is 7 3/4". Excellent condition, no dents, no dings. Marked Sterling, a fabulous American example from the Victorian gilded age. Stunning.
