This doll is a beautiful hand painted porcelain china half doll. She is made in the "arms closed" style. She is lightly marked "5857 Germany" on her lower back base - this dates her to the early 1900's. This Flapper doll has the black bobbed hair. It is a painted black finish. She has a pretty hand painted face with dark eyes and eyebrows, blushing cheeks and red tinted lips. She wears dangle reddish orange earrings. Her white molded bodice shows shoulder staps and has three reddish orange buttons. There are four sew holes - two in front and two in back.

A photo of this half doll is seen on page 341 of "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls".

Condition: This half-doll is from the original owner's extensive antique doll collection. She is in very good condition. I find slight rubbing of the orange paint on her top button - very slight. In a close examination of her base, I find (on the left lower side) an area that looks like a repair. It is not easily noticed.

This half doll stands about 2 3/4" tall. She is lovely and would display well.
