The Whiting Manufacturing Company of New York, NY, was in business from 1866-1926, at which time it was absorbed into Gorham. In 1905, they began to use date codes, which were used with the framed Whiting hallmark.
This pitcher has an older mark, not framed, and and the number 3623 as well as STERLING. The pitcher is in excellent condition, with minor surface scratches, visible under magnification, consistent with age. There are 3 small indentations that I can feel, which could probably be corrected by a silversmith.
The piece is 2.5 inches high and weighs 2.3 ounces. It is absolutely beautiful! What an elegant way to dress up your table! And a great conversation piece to boot!
Item ID: O1047
